Alphabet Inc. is building a new search engine and integrating artificial intelligence capabilities into its existing offerings amid rapid advances in the field from competitors like Microsoft’s Bing, the reported New York Times on Sunday (17).
The Mountain View, California-based company and search engine giant is testing the new features under the project name Magi, the company said Just, and the new product would try to anticipate user needs. More than 160 people are working on it, with initial plans to roll out the features to up to 1 million people in the US and grow to 30 million by the end of the year.
Planning for the new search engine is still at an early stage and there is no timetable for release, the newspaper said.
This project comes amid stiff competition from Bing, a competitor to Google. Samsung Electronics Co. has considered replacing Google with Bing as the primary search engine on its phones due to AI capabilities, the report said. Just.
