Americans caught smuggling fruit roll-ups into Israel


On TikTok, all it takes is one viral video or trend to sell a product at an exponential rate.

And while that’s good news for some retailers looking to make a splash, it could adversely affect companies in smaller markets that run out of items quickly without being able to quickly replenish.

Last week, a local news outlet in Israel reported that two Americans were caught smuggling four suitcases full of fruit roll-ups, totaling about 375 pounds of candy.

The craze has become so evident that Israel’s Ministry of Health issued a statement in light of the fruit roll-ups hype.

Sugar consumption has been linked to various diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, dental caries and more.”
