Women’s Wellness Wednesdays is a free program sponsored by the Marion Women’s Club and OhioHealth, which is centered around women’s health topics such as sleep problems, cancer, and children’s health. The program is open to the public and will be held at the Marion Women’s Club Home on June 7.
Session Topics
The sessions begin at 10 am with a “Morning Stretch” and continue until 6 pm with an invigorating program titled “Harnessing Women’s Wellness.” The presentations will include a variety of relevant health information and keynote speakers. Here’s a breakdown of the session topics:

The presentation on cancer care and women will be led by Dr. Ewa Mrozek, OhioHealth Medical Oncologist at OhioHealth Marion General Cancer Clinic. She will address cancers specific to women, including tips, signs, tests, prevention measures, and healthy lifestyle habits.
Lunch Session
Guests can enjoy a complimentary lunch and listen to eight women cancer survivors during a panel discussion titled “I’m a Survivor, and So Much More”. Afterward, Women’s Club member Dianne Krumnow will provide a hands-on stress reduction activity through “Find Your Zen with Zentangle.”
Taking Care of Our Children
Throughout the day, an expert on substance abuse and OhioHealth Substance Use Navigator, Katie Herdman, will offer advice for women who are often primary caregivers for children. Her advice pertains to moms, nannies, and other caregivers.
What Should a Woman Eat?
Registered dietitian Natalie Berger will present “What Should a Woman Eat?” and emphasize how to replace nutrients that are often found deficient in women.
Health-Focused Information Booths
Booths that feature various health-focused information will be available throughout the day. The historic house will be hosting free blood pressure/glucose checks and neck massages as well.
Mobile Mammography Unit
Marion Women’s Club partnered with Center Street Community Clinic (CSCC) to identify underserved and uninsured women who are eligible for a free mammogram, which will use OhioHealth’s Mobile Mammography Unit.
An Afternoon with an Uplifting Speaker
After the sessions, guests will continue to enjoy their day with an uplifting, energetic “empowering women” presentation from former puppet Josh Wagner. His speech will center around the challenges that women face daily and the balancing act they must perform. He will offer solutions, including relaxation and guide visualization.

“I can’t sleep! Is my blood pressure too high? My mom had cancer, will I have it? What can I do to help my children cope? What is life like after cancer?
These questions and other women’s health topics are at the center of “Women’s Wellness Wednesdays,” a free program on June 7 sponsored by the Marion Women’s Club, in association with OhioHealth.
The event is free, open to the public, and will be held at the Marion Women’s Club Home, 1126 E. Center St., Marion. Guests can enjoy a complimentary lunch and “Healthy Happy Hour” at 5 pm before an uplifting and energetic “empowering women” speaker at 6 pm No registration is required.
“We’d like to invite people to come when they can, whether it’s for a morning session, lunch or our evening guest speaker,” explains Valerie Wigton, president of the Marion Women’s Club. Sessions begin at 10 am with a “Morning Stretch” and continue throughout the day, with an invigorating program titled “Harnessing Women’s Wellness” that closes the day at 6. “We want to reach as many women in our community to provide them with practical activities and relevant health information related to all aspects of life,” she added. “Whether you only have an hour or two, or all day, you’re bound to feel empowered.”

As part of Wellness Wednesday for Women, Marion Women’s Club partnered with Center Street Community Clinic (CSCC) to identify underserved and/or uninsured women who are eligible for a free mammogram using OhioHealth’s Mobile Mammography Unit.
There are only a few spaces left, but any woman who may qualify for a free mammogram should contact Crystal Slone at CSCC, 740-751-6043.
“On our first Well Women’s Wednesday last year, Laurie Snyder was diagnosed with two types of breast cancer,” Wigton explained. “She has told us time and time again that she believes the Marion Women’s Club and this event ‘saved her life.'”
Snyder, now a member of the Women’s Club, will be part of the noon survivor panel discussion.
“We are grateful to OhioHealth and our community partners that have allowed us to provide such an important event for our community,” Wigton said. “Continue our mission to empower women and enrich our community.”
A “Healthy Happy Hour” begins at 5 pm with free light drinks and healthy snacks before the final show at 6 pm with former Puppet Josh Wagner.
Wagner, a popular speaker on motivational self-care, will address the challenges women face, including balancing multiple roles and responsibilities, while offering solutions including relaxation and guide visualization.
