Discount supermarket giant Aldi has asked Northumberland small businesses to get in touch as it looks to expand its suppliers.

As part of a campaign to support British businesses, the call applies to all product categories, including food, drink and special purchases. It forms part of the supermarket’s ongoing commitment to spend an additional £3.5bn a year with UK suppliers by 2025.



The supermarket chain already partners with around 5,000 UK suppliers, including UK-based Primula. Gateshead.

Julie Ashfield, Aldi UK Managing Director of Purchasing, said: “Working with UK partners is at the heart of our business and three-quarters of our sales come from UK suppliers. We are incredibly proud of these partnerships and it’s amazing to see so many of our suppliers grow with us”.

Julie also claimed that spending more with British suppliers was leading to the creation of much-needed jobs as well as boosting British farming and manufacturing. She finished: “We look forward to bringing even more vendors on board throughout 2023.”
