Australian Small Business Champion Awards recognize Illawarra fitness operators

A pair of Illawarra-based fitness businesses have been recognized at the Precedent 2024 Australian Small Business Champion Awards.

Held over two nights at The Star, Sydney over the weekend, Jetts Nowra was named Champion Small Business Gym, while Gerringong-based Soul Fit Co, owned by Korin Koutsomihalis, was awarded Champion Small Business Fitness Service Companies.

Welcoming the recognition as a Champion Small Business Gym, club manager Alanna West took to social media to say “thank you to our amazing team at our support office at Jetts Australia who put culture and community at the forefront of everything they do.

“Our incredible team and members create an environment that inspires many to find the best versions of themselves.

“We are proud to advocate for a better quality of life in our beautiful club, Shoalhaven and across Australia.”

Koutsomihalis, a previous AUSactive award winner, operates Soul Fit Co in Gerringong’s Werri Beach Gerringong.

Jetts Nowra also won the AUSactive Awards in Melbourne last year.

The annual Australian Small Business Champion Awards, the country’s largest recognition awards programme, celebrate the achievements and considerable economic, social and cultural contribution of the country’s 2.5 million small business operators.

This year marks the program’s 26th consecutive year and its most successful year to date, with more entries received than any previous year.

An independent national survey recently commissioned by Precedent Productions, which coordinates the awards, found that cash flow and profitability are the top concerns of all small business owners today.

Steve Loe, founder of the Australian Small Business Champion Awards and CEO of Precedent Productions, warned that now more than ever is the time to strongly support the country’s hardest working sector, saying: “I believe the resilience of the small business community Australian businesses is more evident today than ever before in recent memory, and is absolutely deserving of national recognition.”

The Australian Small Business Champion Awards 2024 is supported by presenting partner Commonwealth Bank and lead partners Nine Ad Manager, NOVA Employment, Castaway Forecasting, Big Clean, Xcllusive Business Sales and Boa.
