The second annual Malcolm X Weekend returned to Rochester for the weekend.
The aim of the weekend is to celebrate the life and legacy of Malcolm X on what would have been his 98th birthday with a variety of events.

On Saturday, a Malcom X Small Business Marketplace was held on West Avenue, highlighting small black businesses in the community.
“Basically, he was reading a book about Malcolm X and he told me that he faced a lot of racial tension and basically this move is to show how he fought for his rights and went through difficult times in life and overcame them throughout his life.” life,” said Journei Donaldson of Rochester.
“I think we were here today to help the black community be heard more, because they don’t really listen to us. So, we’re trying to get out here to show how our black businesses, small businesses, and just be So, today just Let’s express ourselves and show everyone how we can be as one great community, together,” Lanyia Felton.
In addition to the small business market, there was also a firearms safety training and Malcom Art Xpressions and Talent exhibit to celebrate.
