Clearway Pets has acquired the adjoining unit in the Cross Keys shopping centre, allowing it to double the size of its Salisbury store, along with its new Stockbridge unit.
It also received high praise at the Start-up Business of the Year award.
Mike Adamson, 28, who runs the business with his wife, Emily, 24, said the idea to expand was originally brainstormed.
Mike said: “We are much busier than we ever thought we would be. We have a lot more products than we thought we’d need, and people still want more from us, so that’s when we once joked, “We’ll just tear down the wall.” and we’ll move next door.’”
However, upon further consideration, the concept sounded increasingly practical and realistic.
Mike said: “We thought, ‘Well, actually, if we went next door, we could have a really big showroom, because all our coats are up there and you don’t see them. We can have all the coats down.
“We do quite a bit of work with Joules, and we can have their entire range of pets on proper screens, and then the ball started rolling, we could have a better range of harnesses, dog leashes, collars, cat food and cat scratching posts.”
The exterior signs will arrive next week for the additional section of the store, although there is a lot of work to be done before the new half of the store is ready for use.
The current target for the opening is mid-July, although it’s too soon to announce an official date.
One of the more unique additions to the store made possible by the expansion is the inclusion of fitting rooms for customers to safely remove their pets from leashes and try on different coats and harnesses.
Mike said this will create a much more comfortable atmosphere for the dogs, who can get stressed and excited when being fitted with new coats and harnesses on the shop floor surrounded by multiple strangers.

Mike said: “When we go to a clothing store we don’t take our clothes off in the middle of the store, we go to a fitting room. So why not have a changing room for the dogs?
There will also be an interactive area for pets and pet owners to experiment with different toys and other products, with TVs and screens showing how to use things.
Mike said: “Much more interactive than your typical pet store. He’s shown how to use everything, almost taking the customer on a little tour of the store.”
