US temp staffing hours edged up 0.8% in the week ended May 18; however, the increase was all in commercial staffing, according to the latest SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator report.
Commercial staffing hours rose 1.1% week over week, while professional staffing hours dropped 0.4%. Both remained down 12% year over year.
While market conditions for staffing businesses have deteriorated during the first quarter of 2024, SIA reported indicator values have remained stable or rising slightly over the past month and are inching closer to pre-Spring Break levels.
