If Alonso doesn't go to Renault, it's gonna be a mistake. If he does go to Renault, it's probably gonna be a mistake as well. What he CAN do is show that he is still very very hot property in F1, as sharp as a knife, as quick as a bullet… And you can do it, even in a midfield team, measuring yourself against your teammate, to begin with… That way, he could pave his way to a top team in 2022. If he rejects this opportunity, however, he ain't coming back to F1 ever again… Out of sight, out of mind… He knows that. Where I would like to see him is commit full time to Indy. Hey, Alonso, you can't win Indy 500 by just showing up for that race every year, out of the blue… Imagine someone showing in F1 just for Monte Carlo every year. It's ridiculous…

I'm sure someone's already said it, but the only real contribution Alonso would make to Formula One in a Renault in the foreseeable future would be additional clicks on the F1 YouTube channel when they do their post-race "Best Radio Moments" video. Hopefully 2022 will prove me wrong in terms of what Renault can do, but I'm not willing to place bets on a product I haven't seen yet and I don't know if Alonso is either–I mean, we all saw what happened the last time he did that.

Don’t think it’s fair saying Ricciardo didn’t want to face Verstappen. When Horner so clearly has a favourite, no point hanging around if you want to win! Disappointing that you guys continually ignore this. Vettel was favoured over Webber (evidenced showing very clearly since Webber retired etc.), Verstappen was seen by Horner as the next great hope. Not Daniel’s fault, stop trying to pretend he was on equal terms!

I really don’t understand why there’s such positive talk about Alonso coming back. He dragged McLaren through the dirt whinging at every opportunity essentially embarrassing the team publicly. He’s not a guy I want in my garage – especially if it’s going to be in a car that’s not in a position to challenge for podiums much less win races.

Renault seems to be having problems in destroying the Team by themselves.
Alonso would be perfect to achieve that goal, with comments like Renault has an F2 engine, reminding the staff that he has 1000 points and finally grab a chair and sit on a hill instead of going to work at the garage.

Alonso should concentrate on getting that elusive triple crown ! In fact if he can win the Indy500 twice he would be the only driver in history to win the double triple crown. 👍🏻 F1 is only one discipline and Alonso matched our very own 6 time F1 world champion when he was at McLaren the first time.
Renault should look at Pierre Gasly… He's out of contract after 2020, won't get another chance at RED BULL. This gives them 2 French drivers for their possible swan song out of the sport… Or these two might be able to help save the team.

Speaking Daniel Ricciardo? This is really funny. Ricciardo is a loser; yes and this with no doubt. Daniel has been around and this man has never obtained any success at all. The name Daniel Ricciardo is a fabricated name. At the contrary, Fernando is a true name. He has proven to be one of the very best, if not the best, f1 driver. What a thrill to have Fernando back! F1 will be again lots of fun with Fernando. Yes, and that is a true; we must be objective and not affected by "not sense" prejudices. I am at least, free of any prejudices at all.
