how delhi education board is different

Atishi, the Education Minister in the Delhi Government, told how the Delhi Education Board is different from the rest of the education boards and what is the criteria for the exam:

1. The rest of the board exams are held once a year and the future of the child is decided on the basis of the 3-hour exam. If a child becomes ill or is unable to give the exam due to some reason, then his future or 1 year gets spoiled. Whereas in Delhi Education Board, there are exams in two terms (semester). And the result is declared at the end of the year. Also, the basis of the student’s year-long work and their project work is also included in the Delhi Education Board.

2. Under the Delhi Education Board, children do not give exams by rote learning. Different criteria are made for each subject. Like in mathematics, assessment is not done on the basis of syllabus. Rather, the assessment is done on the basis of Criteria. Criteria in Maths are, 1. Knowing and Understanding, 2. Investigating Pattern, 3. Applying mathematics in Real World. Also there are 4 Criteria in Social Science, 1. Knowing and Investigating, 2. Investigating, 3. Cmunicating, 4. Thinking Criticality.

3. The report card received under the Delhi Education Board will be based on grade point average. There will be 8 levels in this. While the qualifying grade point average is 3. In this year’s result, students have got 6 & 7 grade point average.
