- The property in Itchingfield was built in 1936 and had only two previous owners
- Former owner Alan Wilder was a member of the electronic group Depeche Mode.
The former home of Depeche Mode musician Alan Wilder is selling for a whopping £4.5m.
Wilder played synthesizer in the popular 1980s electro group, known for hits like Just Can’t Get Enough, which was released before they joined, and Enjoy The Silence.
He was a member of the band from 1982 until 1995, when he departed saying there was “growing dissatisfaction with the group’s internal relations and work practices”.
Now the house the keyboardist bought with his fortune is up for sale, giving Depeche Mode fans the chance to live where a former band member once did, if they can afford it.
The impressive property in Itchingfield, Sussex, England, was built in 1936 and has only two previous owners, the most recent being Wilder.
At 11,871 square feet, it contains eight bedrooms, three bathrooms, a pool and sauna, and is situated on an exquisite property of almost 30 acres.
As you walk through the front porch and reception foyer, you’ll be greeted by a parlor, dining room, family room, and home office.
There is also a breakfast room, pantry, pantry, laundry room and flower room.
Moving to the second floor you will find a leisure suite with a gym and plunge pool, flotation tank, sauna and steam room.
Sitting on 28.86 acres of land, you’ll find the stables, tack room, workshop, field shelter, driver’s cabin, and a double garage.
Look no further for leisure as the property also boasts a swimming pool, tennis court, greenhouse and gardens.
The family property also has a playground located in a section of the woods.
The small town of Itchingfield, West Sussex, offers a place of tranquility and serenity.
“The house is a clever mix of traditional 1930s architecture, with a contemporary extension in the northwest corner,” the listing says.
‘The main rooms have a view to the south across the gardens and grounds and are filled with natural light.
A passenger elevator provides access from the first floor to the recreation room and gymnasium that occupies the entire upper floor.
‘Outside, there is a chauffeur’s cabin with a garage, stable, tennis court and swimming pool. The gardens surround the house on three sides and include a children’s adventure playground.
“Perched on an edge of the village location, with views south of the South Downs, and accessed via a long tree-lined drive, is a stunning Art Deco house, set within around 28.86 acres of gardens, parks and pastures”.
