Management: Local authorities will handle the financing, which can be used for both capital and revenue projects. Both funds must be spent by March 31, 2025.

UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF)
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) is a central pillar of the UK government’s ambitious catch-up agenda. England Rural Prosperity Fund (REPF)
The Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) is a supplement to the UKSPF budget. Its focus is to address the challenges facing rural areas, with the goal of increasing productivity and strengthening rural economies and communities. Like the UKSPF, the rural fund supports the government’s equalizing agenda. Unlike the UKSPF, it does not have a revenue funding element. Instead, it focuses solely on supporting capital projects within small businesses and community infrastructure projects.

What does this mean for North Norfolk?
In North Norfolk, the fund will be administered by the North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) and its partners. Our district’s program includes a variety of areas that focus equally on community groups and businesses. The Rural Communities and Businesses Grant is for community groups seeking to support the development of small and medium-sized infrastructure projects, such as space renovations, small-capital construction projects, or the purchase of equipment, tools, or machinery.

Financing (capital grants) for small-scale investments, including equity financing for net-zero infrastructure for rural businesses and agribusiness diversification (out of agriculture). It is designed to encourage the expansion or enlargement of these businesses, which could involve converting farm buildings to other commercial or business uses.

Through this program we hope to offer support to local businesses to help with decarbonisation, improving the natural environment and growing the local economy.
Take a whole systems approach to investing in infrastructure to achieve effective decarbonisation across energy, buildings, transport and more, in line with our legally binding climate target.
