DVIDS – News – Small company takes home three awards

The small businesses of the St. Paul district took home three awards at the Annual Conference of Small Business of the Society of American Military Engineers of the American Society, held in New Orleans, on November 20, 2024.

• Large dollar prize for small companies for fiscal year 2024 for the Phargo/Moorhead Southern Terraplén phase for $ 23.9 million
• Recognition in the category of small businesses owned by women
• More than 50% of the fiscal year 2024 awards awarded to small businesses

Usace leaders presented 45 individual and team awards for hiring achievements of small businesses in fiscal year 2024.

“For the second consecutive year, Usace forced more than $ 10 billion to our small businesses. Those dollars contribute directly to the army
Mission program and small businesses, which represents 41% of the expenditure of small businesses and comply with our mission statement to be the army leader in the use of small businesses for the delivery of the Usace mission, “said the Lieutenant General William H. ” Butch Graham, Jr., 56th Manager of Engineers and General Commander of Usace. The annual conference had more than 6,000 attendees with opportunities to meet and establish contacts with each district and center of Usace.

“We are continuing with more than 200 conference contractors with our fiscal year 2025 projections in the hope of involving new contractors, expanding opportunities for existing contractors and helping other contractors with potential clients to other offices,” said Christine Davis, said Small Business Programs Manager.

“We have a priority to use small businesses to achieve our mission and we hope to continue associating with those entities in the future,” said Kevin Henricks, hiring manager. USACE SMall Business Awards publicly recognizes people and organizations that have contributed significantly to the achievements of the small businesses.
