Elon Musk is being sued in the JPMorgan lawsuit over ties to Jeffrey Epstein

Elon Musk is being sued in connection with a lawsuit accusing him JP Morgan to facilitate the human trafficking operation of the late Jeffrey Epstein in the US Virgin Islands.

In a statement on Monday, US Virgin Islands attorneys said the request for documents was made because Moss is “a wealthy individual who Epstein may have reported or attempted to report to JPMorgan.”

They asked the judge overseeing the civil case in New York to allow Musk to be served via mail, after the U.S. Virgin Islands made “good faith attempts to obtain an address” for the billionaire, including hiring of a detective company, but they couldn’t locate him himself.

The subpoena to Musk comes just weeks after the US Virgin Islands sent separate requests to Google co-founder Sergey Brin, as well as Hyatt Hotels chairman Thomas Pritzker, real estate and media mogul Mortimer Zuckerman and Hollywood super agent Michael Ovitz.

The purpose of those subpoenas was unknown, and those involved did not respond to requests for comment. But the US Virgin Islands said that in addition to depositing his own money with JPMorgan, Epstein has helped introduce wealthy clients to the bank.

A lawyer for Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment. JPMorgan declined to comment.

Musk has repeatedly denied knowing Epstein’s colleague Ghislaine Maxwell, with whom he was photographed at a Vanity Fair party in 2014. In response to a tweet featuring the image last year, Musk said he was the subject of a photobomb.

“You should [ask Vanity Fair] why they invited her,” Musk wrote, adding, “The same people pushing this photo say nothing about the prominent people who actually went to [Epstein’s] isolate a dozen times. Also very strange. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being convicted of aiding Epstein’s abuse.

Musk is the latest high-profile figure to be embroiled in a trio of lawsuits against JPMorgan and its top executives’ ties to Jeffrey Epstein. The US Virgin Islands and an unnamed Epstein accuser separately sued the bank last year, claiming it ignored internal warnings about Epstein for several years before dropping him as a client in 2013.

The bank has denied wrongdoing and is suing Jes Staley — formerly a senior JPMorgan executive who was Epstein’s personal banker for a time — accusing him of withholding information about Epstein’s illegal activities.

Staley left JPMorgan in 2013 and was subsequently the head of British bank Barclays. He left Barclays after six years following an investigation by UK regulators into the way he characterized his relationship with Epstein. In court filings, Staley’s attorneys did so described JPMorgan’s claims as “libelous” and “baseless but serious.”
