Elon Musk on Monday teased what appeared to be a toolbox for Tesla’s highly anticipated Cybertruck.

Musk drove a Cybertruck equipped with the black roof rack a ceremony for Tesla’s new lithium refinery in Texas.

The rack was attached to the bed of the electric pickup truck. It had what appeared to be two silver shovels attached to the outside of the rack. The vehicle also appeared to have bars at the top of the roof rack that could presumably be used to carry larger items.

Event participants later used similar shovels to break up soil on the refinery site. Musk has estimated that the new Texas refinery will produce enough lithium, a rare earth metal, to power about 1 million electric vehicles.

Tesla did not respond to an Insider request for comment and has not yet provided additional details about the rack.

It’s unclear if the rack will be sold as an official Tesla product. Some companies have developed Cybertruck accessories, including camping unit which can transform the electric pickup truck into an RV.

Musk said the automaker plans to release its Cybertruck later this year and confirmed during Tesla’s quarterly earnings call last month that it expects to begin shipments this year. The billionaire changed the delivery date, ie two years after than originally expected – several times since him first announced THE truck in 2019.

“It takes time to get the production line up and running, and this is really a very radical product,” Musk said on the earnings call. “It’s not made the way other cars are made.”

Because of its stainless steel design and unusual shape, the EV requires many of its parts to be custom made, including the wiper for its large front window. In video from Monday’s event, the truck appears to be sporting a huge windshield wiper. A previous photo seemed to show the wiper leaving a large part of the windshield dirty, despite its size.

So was a Cybertruck stained after the Texas event in a field. In a video that was posted on social mediathe Cybertruck appears to be stuck in the muddy field with several people and one other car gathered around the vehicle.
