  1. I must disagree on your thoughts of wine and coffee being okay to drink while nursing. They are both stimulants that transfer to baby through breast milk. Sorry you lost me there.

  2. Thank you so much for doing this! My first baby is mid-30's now, and I'm glad to know that some of my practices as a young mom have withstood the test of time and all we've learned over the decades…and I can accept that some others left room for improvement (what?!?! I wasn't perfect?!?!)

No matter our generation or our level of knowledge, there will always be a place for parents and grandparents to exercise their common sense. "Coffee and alcohol allowed" doesn't translate to "spend all night out drinking, come home to a pot of coffee to get you through the hangover, and in between gulps, breastfeed your baby", and thank you for assuming your audience is intelligent enough to understand that everything is a matter of degree!

What will never change in parenting guidelines is the need to pay attention to the uniqueness of your own baby, and how they respond to the world that you create for them. Overall, when your babies are physically healthy and emotionally secure, you're on the right track. And when your grandchildren are healthy and secure, leave their mom and dad to their "non-traditional" approaches, count your blessings, and set aside your own ego.

Nice video, I am grateful for your time and efforts. 🙂

  3. Thank you so much for this information!! Things have advanced and changed since I was a young Mom some 36 years ago, and I want to be supportive of my children and have knowledge of the things science has learned since my kids were babies!! This was very helpful and I hope you continue to educate us grandparents as it's been a long time since we were learned in all things babies!! Bless you for sharing your knowledge!!
