Fairbury, Neb. (News Channel Nebraska) – This weekend, Wars Fairbury Veterans/American Legion Center opened their doors to organize a new internal market, bringing a place more than a dozen artisans, vendors and small owners of companies throughout Oriental Nebraska.
It is a way for local suppliers to meet in winter as well as in events such as farmers in summers, using space in a local establishment to contribute to a local community and at the same time celebrate military veterans.
“All motivation is for veterans and the US legion, all of them … when you raised your hand, and made that commitment, and you said you would put your life on the line, there is no greater honor than that, so I want to thank you for , help them and support them in any way that can, ”said Kellie Chambers, Bar Manager and VFW Club.
The Saturday event had 15 total sellers from all over the state, some even from distant cities such as Beaver Crossing or larger places in the Lincoln subway. Many of them sold articles of their own creation, handmade articles such as blankets, carpentry, baked products and jewels.
Uniting all these people with related ideas from many different places under the same roof helps to expose these new suppliers and products to the locals, while helping newcomers from the area to learn more about the community they call home for a day.
“I want to drive the unity of the community,” said Chambers. “With everything that is happening in the world today, we need to rise each other, we need to support each other. There are so many people, older people, veterans, who struggle to buy food or take care of themselves, so all funds go to the suicidal aid of veterans or a disaster fund. I am trying to increase that to help them and the community. ”
The organizers estimated that a few hundred people spent their paths through the VFW throughout the day on Saturday for the first of these internal markets in Fairbury: a second is scheduled by the end of March, with a completely new list of suppliers that are They register to attend.
“We have had a lot of pedestrian traffic today, I have been very impressed by the number of people,” Chambers said Saturday afternoon. “Normally we would not see this crowd of a great crowd here, so I am very impressed with how the community has joined and the step, whether they buy something or not, it is fine. We want people to know that we are open to the public It is not just a club just for members. ”
Those interested in joining the rotation of suppliers in future editions of this event can communicate with Fairbury VFW by phone or through their Facebook page.
