Fisker’s troubled Ocean SUV faces first recall

Fisker is issuing the first recall of its all-electric Ocean SUV due to problems with warning lights, according to new information released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

the security agency says that the Fisker Ocean’s instrument panel displays the brake, parking, and anti-lock system warning lights in the wrong font size and sometimes in the wrong color, causing them not to comply with Federal Safety Standards. Motor vehicles. The agency also says that “multiple warning lights do not illuminate during the ignition cycle.”

NHTSA says Fisker will fix the problem with an over-the-air update and has issued a stop sell order to reseller partners until the new software is installed. Technically, the recall only applies to the 6,864 Ocean SUVs in the US, as other regions have their own safety regimes. But Fisker says in documents informed the agency that it is also upgrading the 4,056 oceans located in the EU, as well as the 281 SUVs in Canada.

Retirement comes later months of problems with the Ocean SUV, and at a time when Fisker is on the verge of bankruptcy. The electric vehicle startup stopped production of the Ocean and cut its workforce to the bone while looking for a way out of his problems.

However, the recall is not related to any of the four active investigations NHTSA has launched in the ocean. With them, the agency is investigating involuntary automatic emergency brakingsudden braking loss, folding vehicle and doors that don’t open.
