For almost the time that the indómites have been shaving rapsodic about Jaipur, Rawal Yadavendra Singh has been in front of Samode hotels. The three historical residences of his family turned into atmospheric hotels are the most wanted rooms around the pink city. Samode Haveli, in one of Jaipur’s oldest parts, was built for Singh’s ancestors at the end of the 18th century. While the big brands (Taj, OBEROIMore recently Raffles) and independent hoteliers (Villa Paladio, The Johri) In the same way they have entered the market here with varying degrees of splashes, the appeal of Samode Haveli has suffered for a wide strip of creators of tastes.

3 It is a genuine refuge in the old town, with birds, fountains, bougainvillea and huge mature trees in the gardens, and the echoes of the footprint and the long shadows between its hanging balconies. Many of the staff have been there for decades. I didn’t need any real change: heaven doesn’t want it; Its history is written in its murals, embedded doors, the services of Sheesham and Silver of the family. That is why his recent renewal reaches the perfect note; The renewed textiles and some surfaces shone or launch again through the 50 rooms (30 are suites, and none of them is the same form or design as another).

In the central tea country of the highlands of Sri Lanka, the landscapes, lush, mountainous, fresh and misty in the mornings and nights, they extend as far as the view. Its plantations are some of the only places that remain in the country where tea is still selected. Uga Halloowella, who opened in January, sees one of those remucha plantations such as a six suite boutique hotel, whose rooms are available to reserve exclusively or as a purchase. The nineteenth -century bungalow is found in almost 1,450 m in more than 250 acres of tea terraces and the tropical jungle overlooking Castlereagh.

The elegant decoration presents mahogany beds with tub, bathtubs with claw legs and rotating fans. But it is the outdoors that will claim most of the attention, in particular the Pekoe path that enrolls the surrounding forest to neighboring plantations and leopard conservation projects. The exquisite botanical gardens and the Hindu temples of Kandy are a two -hour trip (or, if you feel adventurous, take the four -hour train to it from the Hatton station, famous as one of the most picturesque train routes in the world).

Oaxaca is synonymous with escape from the Mexican beach, offering surfing, nature and hospitality in abundance. The new Six Suite Mazunte, One Villa, extends along a vertical section of the Pacific coast to the south of Puerto Escondido. Two factors mark it as special: its situation within the private reserve of 30 hectares El Torón, with access to a private beach; and the buildings themselves, designed by Alberto Kalach and Ignacio Urquiza, two of the preeminent contemporary architects of Mexico (Kalach was a pioneer of sustainable vernacular architecture in the first days of Puerto Escondido).

New Zealand wrote the book on Lodges of Adventure, and the mother of all is Huka, located on the shores of the Waikato River of the North Island. Inaugurated as a fishing camp in the 1920s, Huka has some of the best combinations of a country that already has many of the best places in the world. Over the years, it has evolved, with cabins, comforts and modifications in layers. In the 1980s, its new ambitious owner, the Dutch investor Alex Van Heeren, brought a relatively unknown local designer called Virginia Fisher, who created a series of magnificently rustic interiors that became a reference point for the industry. In many visits to New Zealand, I have stayed in a dozen places in Huka’s compensation set; Few begin to compare the design.

Therefore, it was a good decision by its current owners, Baillie Lodges, to invite Fisher to return to a one -year renewal. This month, 101 years after its foundation, Huka Lodge opened its doors to reveal a complete readjustment of its 20 suites and two private cabins. The river room, its main meeting place, has a double fireplace and new floor by roof with a view to the river; Similarly, in the extended restaurant that is now divided into two floors. Many renewed versions of original elements (slate floors, thick beams and wood -coated walls are still present; but the colors are bolder, and the outdoor spaces have expanded. Alex Van Heeren’s cabin and the Alan Pye cabin (favored by the late Queen Elizabeth II, who visited Huka four times) rises the luxury notch in several rooms, huge rooms, huge rooms.
