Gasoline price falls 0.5% at gas stations after Petrobras cut 12.6%

Although Petrobras (PETR3;PETR4) after having reduced the price of gasoline in refineries by more than 12% on Tuesday (16), the discount did not reach consumers at the pump, according to a weekly report by the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

That’s because the average price of gasoline fell just 0.5% at the stations, to R$ 5.46 a liter. The highest value found by the ANP during the week was R$ 7.30 per liter; the lowest, R$ 4.39.

The state company reduced the average sale price of gasoline A by R$ 0.40, from R$ 3.18 to R$ 2.78 (reduction of 12.6%). Gasoline C, which is sold at gas stations, is composed of gasoline A with the addition of 27% anhydrous ethanol (without water).

Petrobras also reduced the prices of diesel and cooking gas, and the cut has not reached the gas stations either, for the moment. The reduction of diesel was R$ 0.44 in the refineries, from R$ 3.46 to R$ 3.02 (reduction of 12.8%).

But in the seasons the reduction was only 1.9% during the week (at R$ 5.46 per liter). The highest value found by the agency was R$ 8.49 and the lowest, R$ 4.59.

The reduction in the price of cooking gas was even more significant (-21.6%), but the average price for consumers fell just 0.1% (to R$ 108.72). The price of the most expensive bottle was R$ 155; the cheapest, at R$ 70.
