Max Verstappen led the way in the second practice session of this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, topping the time sheets ahead of the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who crashed towards the end of FP2.
At the end of his qualifying sim runs, Verstappen set a time of 1m 12.462s on the soft tyre, to lead home favorite Leclerc in second by just 0.065s, followed by the time-sheet leader FP1, Sainz, in third place.

Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest for Aston Martin, ahead of Lando Norris, in the McLaren and Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes in sixth. Last year’s Monte Carlo winner Sergio Perez was seventh fastest, ahead of Valtteri Bottas’ Alfa Romeo in eighth.
Sainz brought out the only red flags of the session, after hitting the barrier at turn 15, while Yuki Tsunoda also hit the barrier at turn 13, suffering a left-rear puncture.
