An old Denbighshire chapel dating back to the 19th century has come up for sale. The former Gwyddelwern Methodist Chapel comes with an adjacent schoolroom and two-bedroom cottage and is being billed by estate agents as a possible conversion project.
With a guide price of just £40,000, it could end up being one of the cheaper properties in the North Wales market. Unsurprisingly with such a low asking price, the property has seen better days.
The chapel itself is in relatively good condition, with all the original features, including the pulpit and pews, still in place. But the school room and the cabin need a complete renovation from top to bottom.

However, there is plenty of space to work. The main chapel measures 1,643 square feet while the school room measures 718 square feet. The chapel itself dates from 1806. It was rebuilt in 1832 and again in 1870 before being enlarged in 1906. The current stone structure was designed in a Subclassical style as part of the 1870 reconstruction.
The chapel will be sold by public auction on June 22 at 2pm at Lion Quays Resort, Weston Rhyn, Gobowen, Oswestry. You can take a look inside the chapel with our gallery below. For more information, you can see the list here.
