  1. The most important thing here was: it was completely wrong, but that was OK, because it's interesting. That's the feeling I've had with most interactions with ChatGPT.
If these AI models are being sold as giving correct answers, then they'll continue to just be hype. (e.g., "Google's Bard keeps giving wrong answers, so it's crap," but "ChatGPT does amazing things, so it's cool!" well, they both fail the first test and pass the second test equally.)

  2. I'd like it if it was way more wrong. Like if it were a random chord generator, I think you'd get something more interesting to use as a starting point.

But what it did is so mundane that if you know enough about music to use it as a starting point, then you also know enough about music that you don't need it as a starting point.

  3. Regarding the arts, I found the Chat-GPT3 struggled to follow directions regarding poetry. It did a very good job at writing poems, but when I asked it to follow certain rhyme schemes, it struggled to understand the intended rhyme scheme. I guess chat gpt didn’t have a lot of poetry related training data.

  4. i think this thing was just bullshitting its way through the exam. if you'd teach it about the overtone series and western harmony from the ground up, it'd probably become cyber chopin

  5. i feel like i might be beating a dead horse here but once you get passed scratching the surface of a topic, it gives confidently incorrect advice, and when you point it out it apologizes and gives another (sometimes even the same) incorrect advice, atleast in software which is what i work on

like you can ask how to define and use strcuts in C, you can also ask it how to type cast in C, then you can even ask how to read a message from a UART1 receiver, but when you ask it to actually define a struct, read the message and type cast it into the struct, it makes absolute garbage

  6. You've probably been asked this a ton of times already, but I would love to see a follow up video with GPT-4 I watched this video:

and it was quite impressive the improvements it made between versions. I'm curious to see it used to create jazz specifically and what your take on it is.

  7. I think ChatGPT remembers words of Jacob Collier about "there's no wrong notes, just lack of confidence" and took it literally. It doesn't know shit, but it blasts with confidence

  8. Funny how you asked GPT to "write a song" but you decided to title the video "I asked GPT to play jazz". Very sneaky, I kinda respect that and resent that at the same time.

  9. One should understand that ChatGPT knows shit about what it writes. That's not an expert system but a glorified word processor.

  10. Did… Did ChatGPT just get sassy with you at the end?! Seriously, it was like, "Dude I'm not a music-writing program! You want to write a song, find a musician!" 😅😂
