Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI’s longtime chief scientist and one of its co-founders, has left the company.

“This is very sad for me; “Ilya is easily one of the brightest minds of our generation, a guiding light in our field, and a dear friend,” Altman wrote. “OpenAI wouldn’t be what it is without it. Although he has something personally meaningful that he is going to work on, I will always be grateful for what he did here and committed to finishing the mission we started together.”
