Jack Dorsey says he is no longer on Bluesky’s board of directors

It appears that Bluesky’s most prominent sponsor is no longer on its board of directors.

On Saturday, Jack Dorsey posted on X about open protocol grants from his Start Small philanthropy initiative. This led to someone asking Dorsey if he was still on the Bluesky board, and he answered with a brief “no.” Dorsey did not respond to any follow-up posts asking her to explain his departure.

It is unclear when Dorsey left the board; starting Sunday morning, Bluesky Corporate FAQ still identifies him as a board member. We contacted the company to confirm this.

Dorsey appears to have deleted his Bluesky account sometime last year, although his departure was only acknowledged at the time by a some posts on social media. (He too deleted his Instagram account.) Despite this, it remained the biggest name associated with the project.
