Kate Hudson Describes Goldie Hawn as a ‘Tornado’ Grandmother
Kate Hudson, the Hollywood star and mother, has described her mother Goldie Hawn’s grandparenting style as being like “a tornado” blowing in and out of their house. The mother and daughter live so close by that they are practically neighbours, and Glass Onion actor Hudson told Jonathan Ross that it meant Hawn was a big part of her grandchildren’s lives.
Hands-on (ish) Grandmother
Mum-of-three Hudson, 43, is a guest on this weekend’s Jonathan Ross Show where she was asked whether Hawn, 77, was a hands-on grandmother. She said: “She’s hands on, ish… she’s like more of a tornado. She comes in, tornados in like rainbows and flowers and happiness and then she’s gone. And you’re like, ‘Where did mum go?’ All the fun stuff. We’re very co-dependant [she lives nearby].”
Close Proximity
Hudson added that as well as living close by to her mother, she actually lives in her old childhood home now where Hawn brought her up. “She’s (Hawn) seven blocks from me. I actually bought the house I grew up in. My mum sold the house, we moved into another house, 12 years later I bought back my mum’s house. Such happy memories.”
Kate Hudson’s Childhood
The Almost Famous star grew up around many big Hollywood names, but told how she had been starstruck when she spotted Bob Dylan swimming at a Florida beach once. Hudson said: “He’s a great swimmer. I was in Florida – it’s as random as it gets – I was sitting on a beach, I saw this man swimming way out in the ocean, and another man that looked like a bodyguard.”
Quality Time with Grandchildren
Hawn is known to be a keen grandmother and be very involved in her grandchildren’s lives. Hudson, who has three children from various relationships, had a son named Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson in 2004. In 2011, she then had a son named Bingham with fiancé at the time Matthew Bellamy, and in 2018, she gave birth to her first daughter Rani Rose with current boyfriend Danny Fujikawa.
Additional Piece: The Importance of Grandparents
The relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren can be a significant and influential one. As grandparents, they have been through the ups and downs of raising children and are now in a position to share life’s lessons with their grandkids. They can provide them with a sense of history and roots, and a sense of stability they might not find elsewhere.
In today’s world, when parents are busy with their lives and children struggle to cope with academic and personal pressures, grandparents can bring a spirit of play and freedom and lighten up the mood. They can be playful and mischievous and can create moments your children will remember for a lifetime.
Moreover, grandparents have the opportunity to share their skills and passions with their grandchildren. They can teach them how to play the piano, bake cookies, or tell them their life stories. Grandparents can provide a wealth of knowledge and experience that children can benefit from.
Grandparents also bridge the generational gap by offering a unique perspective on life and society’s changes. This helps children become more empathetic, appreciative, and compassionate members of society. They learn about the cultural practices, traditions, and family history that they might not acquire elsewhere.
Taking into account the growing importance of grandparents in children’s lives, family members must strive to maintain the best possible relationship between kids and grandparents. Ultimately, young children benefit tremendously from the unconditional and understated love of their grandparents.
