This week’s travel edition covers a wide range of adventures and destinations, starting with Francis Mallmann, the legendary “fire chef” of Patagoniaand ending with Marc Farrell, the founder of Ten To One Rum, on Trinidad beach. Between We hunt for gems with jeweler Ruth Tomlinson. In your quest to unearth the UK’s semi-precious treasures, enjoy The past glamor of Al Moudira in Luxor (which claims to become the best hotel in Egypt), Travel the Silk Road through Central Asia and cast into the cold Scottish waters in search of the “silver king” salmon on the banks of the River Carron. Each trip is loaded with the passion of its author: David Coggins’s account of his attempt (and failure) to fish is as quietly devastating as Hill & Aubrey’s photo essay on Kyrgyzstan is astonishing. They all unlock the different types of wanderlust that guide us, whether in search of new and inspiring interactions, cultural stimuli or smaller, more personal goals.

Rebeka Russell’s Manderley Press is a publisher that makes jewel-like editions of books dedicated to specific homes and places. Her own story makes fascinating reading: she runs the press from a William Morris-decorated house in south London, the former home of Victorian writer William Hale White, and a sort of jewelery box of her own. Kate Finnigan went to visit Rebeka to find out more about his secret treasure trove of stories. This summer we will see the publication of The house in Cornwalla children’s adventure by Noel Streatfeild (one of my childhood favorites) and a seventh book to add to Rebeka’s ever-growing company.

I also have a lot of love for him Grace Cook’s Story of the American Motel. Having fallen victim to changing tourist habits (and a cooling car culture), the classic roadside inn has had to reinvent itself for today. I love motels – I love the double high of doing something that feels completely authentic to the spirit of the American road trip, without really knowing what one might discover behind the check-in desk. The motels are creepy, charming and downright romantic. Grace has rounded up some of the best newcomers, as well as old favorites that have had a facelift. Send us other recommendations if she has them too.

As for finding the happy place? To each his own, I think. I was recently talking to a friend about my extensive vacation plans when he suddenly said, “Oh! Don’t you want to see the sea? In fact, he had chosen places that were landlocked. Did it matter? I’m not sure. That same friend shot. fashion history for this issueBy the way, a trip to Naples with a view of the bay. It looks more than attractive. Maybe look for some more flights…
