After launch of its verification functions Last month, LinkedIn is now bringing verification to jobs, the company announced Monday. LinkedIn is also introducing new message warnings that will alert users if messages on the platform include high-risk content that could include fraudulent activity.
The company will now start showing verifications related to a job posting, displaying verified information about a job poster or your company. When you see verifications on job postings, that means there is information that has been verified as authentic by the job advertiser, LinkedIn, or one of their partners. Verified information will show if the poster is affiliated with an official company page, has verified their work or workplace email, or if their government ID was verified through CLEAR, which is a secure identity platform.
“We’re displaying these verifications to help you feel confident in your search and to give recruiters the opportunity to build trust with potential candidates,” the company wrote in a statement. blog post. “Job verifications are just rolling out, and as we expand access to our free verification tools, you’ll see even more in the jobs you’re exploring.”
As for new message warnings, LinkedIn will now alert you when messages appear to be scams. For example, the platform will alert you if a message asks you to take the conversation to another platform, as that can sometimes be a sign of a scam. The warnings will also give users the option to report the content without notifying the sender.
The new feature is coming like LinkedIn latest transparency report found an increase in spam and scam activity on the platform. Between July and December of last year, LinkedIn proactively removed 90.95 million items of spam and fraudulent content. The company says its automated defenses stopped 99.3% of this content and its teams manually removed the rest.
Last month, LinkedIn introduced new ways to verify your identity and your workplace. unlike with Twitter and Goal, LinkedIn’s new verification measures do not include paid signups or blue checkmarks. At the time, LinkedIn said it believed verification should be available to everyone, which is why its verification features will be available for free.
Unlike Twitter and Meta, which included verification with additional features, LinkedIn chooses to keep its verification features focused on confirming user identities in hopes of providing an extra layer of protection when dealing with fake or fraudulent accounts.
