A man died after colliding with a parked truck yesterday afternoon (May 20). Avon and Somerset Police he was called onto the A303 just before 7pm.
Officers rushed to the scene along with fire and paramedic crews. Sadly, the sole occupant of a black Skoda Citigo was pronounced dead.
Police say the vehicle collided with a truck that was parked and unattended at a rest area near Ilchester. The man’s relatives have been informed.

Investigating officers are now asking for information about the fatal accident. They are eager to hear from anyone who has seen what happened or has relevant dash cam footage.
Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the collision or have information or drive-by camera footage from the moments leading up to it.
“If you can help, please call 101 and give the call manager the reference number 5223117751, or complete our online appeals form.”
