  1. My favourite comment of Murray's was, while commentating on a British Rallycross race a million years ago , at the start of the race as they got going was "and away they come". As apposed to ,away they go, typical Murray ,legend

  2. I used to follow F1 diligently for many years. Almost every live telecast, time zone permitting. Murray Walker was the ubiquitous voice of F1. He and James Hunt were a great pairing. They shall be missed.

  3. I don’t mean this in a bad way but we’re upset over a 97 year old dying. Name another person at that age outside of a family who would make us feel this upset. R.I.P Murray you’ll be missed so so much

  4. How much longer will last in its present form ?

The failure of leadership since 2011 has lead to a nose dive for this sport who has to compete with the finite sponsorship purse world wide. It been unable to attract two further teams on the grid due to capital barriers, media contract handcuffs for sponsors who have simply walked away from teram sponsorship to other sports. Whilst the smaller teams have been unable to compete as the sponsorship monies comming in have not been ditributed uniformly. We are comming to another crunch point when the combustion engine must be replaced by other technologies to meet climate change. The sport finds itself with no chair when the music stops. The latest vacum of leadership has let radical left wing political groups start the corrosive process of exclusion of sponsors, countries, and Brands from been associated with the sport.

It is unclear whether Steffio Deminicarli apealsment stile will help this decline. Already he has taken his eye off the ball for the EU legal requirement to introduced quotas for all teams of 5% of severely disabled to be employed at senior level in all teams and suppliers this year and publish in the consolidated balance sheet on how this is going to be acheived in the next twelve months. The European/UK courts could fine promoters of the sport for not complying with this primary legislative requirement which could cancel some races in the European area. The retirement of Frank Williams and Robert Kubica with semmingly no replace of severely disabled replacement candidates has put on the red light to law enforcers and lobby groups. The courts have already warned that the sport must comply with disabled inclusion or risk procecution as they have had ten years to substantially change the sport to comply with the primary legislation. It is pointed out that the blind and severely disabled are the only legally recognised in primary legislation for quotas to be imposed on F1. This is distinct from political lobby groups or lower legislative boddies.

How will Steffino and press license holders comply with this primary legislation in the next twelve months after ten years of inaction and deniel?

  5. i am surprised that Martin didn't mention commentating at Belgium 89, certain races in 95, when he either had retired from the race (89) and James Hunt was ill. Or playing musical chairs with Suzuki in 95. and if anyone thinks my definition is strange Martin did 9 races, Suzuki 8 swapped throughout the year.

  6. That brought a tear to my eye. Thank you gentlemen for a very sensitive tribute that resonated perfectly with my memories of the sport from 1981 onwards in NZ then much later in the UK, with Murray Walker as the voice of the sport and the entire genre in the English language.

  7. For me growing up Murray, Martin, Ted, James Allen (his pitlane days, not his commentary days) & Louise Goodman will always be the voices of F1 for me.

I’ll never forget Murray commenting on Schumacher marching to the McLaren garage. “James! James! He’s going to Coulthard!”Those were the days.

  8. Man I just got a major dose of nostalgia when I saw the old BBC sign. And man what a voice Murray Walker had. Its sad that a legend has gone but he lived a fantastic life most of us wish for

  9. Thanks guys, from a 53 year old who watched Murray laid in front of the telly as a kid, he got me into club racing, I'm sure when he walked through the pearly gates, God bowed his head 😢😢😢🙏 Rip Murray ❤❤

  10. A driver had a flat tyre,
Murray said "He's got a flat tyre but only flat on the bottom"
The co presenter said "That's too technical for me Murray"

    Had me in fits……..

  11. I'm certain he was as serious and professional as any soldier during his service..

    But imagine his Murrayisms inside the steel can;
"There's nothing wrong with the tank, except that it's on fire!"

"This tank is totally unique, except for the one behind it which is identical."

  12. My favourite ever Murrayisms are, "the car in front is absolutely unique, apart from the car behind which is the same."

"I would would imagine that the conditions in the cockpit are totally unimanageable."

  13. Remember Murray from my first watching GP in early 80s and watched nearly every race he commented and let us not forget has a golden brick from the Indy 500 track which has very rarely given to those not part of that race

  14. Best thing about Murray was that all his mispronounciations etc. were because he was as big a fan and as enthusiastic as us at home!

  15. I can say I think with confidence, without Murray Walker, F1 would not be what it is today.
He brought it to millions with his enthusiasm, his friendly attitude to everyone, and his general appeal to absolutely everyone.
He deserves a trophy for best spirited driver each year, best character.
He deserves to be remembered every year.
