Mastodon Decentralized Social Network Announced you are making it easy to create an account on fediverso, or at least on your own server. Now when you try to register on Mastodon, it will give you an easy option to create an account on mastodon.social instead of choosing a server.
One of the main complaints about joining the Mastodon network has been the complicated flow of registrations for different servers. This process can be overwhelming compared to a centralized social network like Twitter or Instagram.
Mastodon founder and CEO Eugene Rochko said in a blog post that this new feature does not remove the option for users to choose a server or switch to a different one after signing up. They can select “Choose my own server” if they want to join a different instance.
Rochko also mentioned that the improved onboarding makes it easier for people to get started and understand the benefits of decentralization later on.
“You may be wondering how a default server option promotes decentralization. We think it’s important that Mastodon is a good product on its own merits, and not just because of its ideology. If we only attract people who already care about decentralization, our ability to make decentralization mainstream becomes much more difficult,” he said.
“This gives us a better chance of showing what decentralized social media has to offer rather than that person rebounding and never being heard from again.”
last year after Elon Musk took over Twitter, several users began to register on Mastodon to find an alternative network. At one point Rochko’s team had to stop register on mastodon.social to guarantee a good quality of service.
With the latest update, the social network is upgrading its infrastructure and moderation tools to ensure a smooth and secure experience for users.
In addition, Mastodon will soon implement improvements such as quoted answers and better content and profile search along with the ability to create groups. This will make social media more competent for people trying to build a following and communities.
Hopefully these features will make third-party Mastodon clients like Ivory, Mammothand Woolly.
In recent weeks, the decentralized system backed by Jack Dorsey Blue sky has seen a lot of activity. While the network is still in invite-only mode, the organization recently released a Android application, implemented new moderation toolssent new developer toolsand surpassed the 50,000 user mark. The network has a similar layout to Twitter when it comes to interacting with posts, and that makes it attractive to users who want to go to an alternative network.
