He “Cyber Strategy Guide for Small Organizations” offers a comprehensive set of recommendations and practical steps to help companies strategically map out their cybersecurity initiatives.
Structures with short, medium and long-term objectives in mind, the document contains guidance on a variety of cyber security Topics including password protection, firewalls, secure setup, and security audits.
The guide is designed to be user friendly and concise, with the goal of being suitable for young business at any stage of your cybersecurity journey.
The new resource is the product of the University’s partnership with the Cyber and Fraud Center – Scotland, which is based in the Abertay cyberQuarter, a cybersecurity research and development center in the heart of campus.
The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academy and industry, giving students the opportunity to actively contribute to the Center’s professional cyber services and allowing them to work in real-world scenarios and gain experience in a secure and controlled environment.

In addition to a new guide for small businesses, students have developed a variety of online resources for employees includingAn Introduction to Cyber Security Guide which was published last August.
The team also provides regular cyber threat updates for the Cyber & Fraud Center’s Threat Intelligence Portal and the CyberScotland Technical Bulletin, which aim to keep organizations informed of the latest threats and mitigation strategies.
Center students also participate in the Exercise in a Box program, which offers organizations a hands-on opportunity to navigate realistic cyber threat scenarios, allowing them to assess their response capabilities and identify areas for improvement.

The Cyber and Fraud Center Scotland is a founding partner of the Abertay cyberQuarter, established in 2022 as a center for cyber research and innovation.
The cyberQuarter is part of the broader Tay Towns Region Agreement – a partnership between UK, Scottish and local governments and the private, academic and voluntary sectors seeking to make Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perth & Kinross smarter and fairer.
The Scottish Government and the UK Government will each invest up to £150m in the Tay Towns region deal over 10 years, subject to final approval of strong business cases.
