A former Essex Debenhams store will be converted into a separate business center in a shopping mall. The now empty store in the Royals shopping center in Southend will be transformed by a new company called The Utilize Project.
Debenhams closed all of its UK stores in 2021 due to financial problems and since then the clothing giant’s vacant stores have lain empty in places including Basildon, Chelmsford, Colchester and Southend.
Plans have recently come to fruition for many of those sites, including The Range announces an acquisition of the Chelmsford High Street premises, M&S taking over the store at Lakeside Shopping Center and announced plans to a go-kart track on site in Colchester.
