(ABC 6 News)- Being a business in this day and age can be difficult, with owners who face challenges every day. Those challenges took the center of legislators in Austin on Friday.
“They are part of our lives and it is really important for them. What we have been listening is that they have felt silenced at the last biennium, they have felt silent, “said representative Patricia Mueller.
Some expressed concern about the time won of patients and stays (Esst), a law established last year. It requires that employers provide a paid license to Minnesota employees. Now, with a medical license law and Paged family from next year, some owners are concerned about their results.
“Fill positions when people are out for a prolonged period of time. Limited capacity to ask questions and verify that the way employees are using both leaves are allowed, ”said Candace Pesch, the Senior Human Resources coordinator of the Cortation County that attended.
The care of children and housing were also on the table. Business owners claim that their hands are tied, not enough affordable homes and not enough nursery centers to see their children in southeast Minnesota. And legislators agree.
“You cannot make job creators success when your employees cannot find child care, and do not have a place to live. All these are interconnected, ”said Mueller.
Legislators say that the next steps are to take the problems to St. Paul.
“Agencies should be able to listen to how some of these things are being implemented and how difficult it is for our employment creators,” Mueller said.
Chamber representatives say they obtained many good contributions in the event and plan to use what they learn as the laws approve the rest of the legislative session.
