Importance of Mohini Ekadashi (Mohini Ekadashi 2023 Significance)

According to the legend, when the ocean was churned, after getting the nectar, there was chaos between the gods and the demons. The deities could not defeat the asuras on the strength of their strength, so Lord Vishnu in the form of Mohini trapped the asuras in the net of his illusion and fed all the nectar to the deities by which the deities attained immortality. For this reason this Ekadashi is called Mohini Ekadashi.

Mohini Ekadashi story

A rich man named Dhanpal lived in a beautiful city named Bhadravati. He was a very charitable person by nature. Among his five sons, the name of the youngest son was Dhrishtabuddhi, who used to spend his father’s money in bad deeds. One day Dhanapal got fed up with his bad habits and threw him out of the house. Now he started wandering here and there drowning in grief day and night. One day, due to the influence of some virtue, Maharishi reached the hermitage of Kaundilya. Maharishi had come after bathing in the Ganges.

Dhrishtabuddhi, suffering from the weight of grief, went to Kaundilya Rishi and with folded hands said, “Sage! Have mercy on me and tell me such a solution, by which I can be free from my sorrows due to the effect of virtue. Then Kaundilya said, observe the Ekadashi fast known as ‘Mohini’. The sins of many births are also destroyed by the virtue of this fast. Dhrishtabuddhi fasted according to the method told by the sage. Due to which he became sinless and wearing a divine body went to Shri Vishnudham.
