Former MLA Mukhtar Ansari has been convicted by the MP-MLA court of Ghazipur in the Gangster Act case. The MP-MLA court sentenced Mukhtar Ansari to 10 years and Mukhtar’s brother Ghazipur MP Afzal Ansari to four years in prison. Talking to Aaj Tak after Mukhtar Ansari was sentenced, former jailer Shiv Kumar Awasthi praised the government and also narrated the incident of Mukhtar firing his pistol.
Talking to Aaj Tak, former jailer Shiv Kumar Awasthi also narrated the incident when Mukhtar pointed a pistol at him. Shiv Kumar Awasthi said that no mafia wants to get entangled first. When a screw gets stuck, it gets tangled. He said that there is a saying that a snake walks crooked everywhere but when it enters a burrow, it walks straight.
Recalling the incident, the former jailer said that in the year 2003, Mukhtar Ansari was lodged in Lucknow jail and I was the jailer. He said that then Mukhtar Ansari was an independent MLA. Shiv Kumar Awasthi said that under a conspiracy, Mukhtar Ansari got a pistol inside Lucknow jail, with which when his man was trying to go inside, I started searching.
He said that when I started searching the man, Mukhtar intervened. According to the former jailer, then Mukhtar Ansari said that he should not be searched. In response to this, I said that a search would definitely be taken. He said that I told Mukhtar that without searching, I will not let him go inside the jail.
Mukhtar had challenged his men to stop
Former jailer Shiv Kumar Awasthi says that Mukhtar Ansari said on this that he is my man. You will not find it. He said that I told Mukhtar that I will search. The former jailer told that Mukhtar was dissatisfied with this and he challenged and said that two of my men are going inside, stop them.
He said that in response to this I told him that if he has the courage then he should show it. That’s where the clash happened. According to former jailer Awasthi, the matter escalated so much that Mukhtar took a pistol from his henchmen and pointed at me. He said that then Mukhtar Ansari had also threatened that get out, will not leave you alive.
Mukhtar’s BP had increased, did not eat food
Former jailer Shiv Kumar Awasthi told that when Mukhtar Ansari had threatened me, his BP had increased a lot. My BP also increased. He said that some people had caught Mukhtar and some had caught me. His health had also deteriorated and the doctor had to be called. According to the former jailer, Mukhtar Ansari did not even eat food that day.
He told that when Mukhtar Ansari had threatened me, I had lodged an FIR at the Alambagh police station in Lucknow itself. Former jailer Shiv Kumar Awasthi also mentioned the murder of RK Tiwari and Ashok Gautam, who were jailers of Lucknow jail. He said that RK Tiwari was murdered near the Governor House. Ashok Gautam was also murdered and Mukhtar’s conspiracy was behind this.
Mukhtar had a lot of influence in Ghazipur jail
Shiv Kumar Awasthi says that after these incidents, the spirits of Mukhtar and his henchmen were high. He said that the incident of Mukhtar’s pistol pulling is of the year 2003 and after seven years I was transferred to Ghazipur Jail. Shiv Kumar Awasthi says that Ghazipur Jail was the stronghold of Mukhtar Ansari and I was sent to the lion’s den.
He said that half of the staff in Ghazipur Jail belonged to Mukhtar. Shiv Kumar Awasthi says that 99 percent of the prisoners who were lodged in the jail were his acquaintances. Mukhtar Ansari had a lot of influence inside the jail. He told that for Mukhtar Ansari, a separate badminton court as well as a stage was also made in Ghazipur Jail. Barrack number 10 and 11 were specially made for them where Mukhtar’s brother-in-law also lived.
They want to expand their empire
Former Jailor Shiv Kumar Awasthi said that people like Mukhtar Ansari and Atiq Ahmed want to expand their empire and wherever they live, the public remains under their influence. He said that these people used to get girls married. His image is like Robinhood. The ex-jailer said that these people adopt all the policies of Sama, Daam, Dand, Bheda, so that they can use them when their work gets stuck.
He also said that even when I had gone to work in the jail department, I knew that saints and devotees would not be found here. Shivkumar Awasthi said that I was ready for this from the beginning. On sentencing Mukhtar, he said that a lot changes with the change of government and its policy.
Witnesses testifying fearlessly today
The former jailer said that today’s government’s intentions are clearly visible, due to which good bullies and mafia are running away. He said that the same Mukhtar Ansari did not want to come to Uttar Pradesh from Punjab because he was familiar with the conditions here. Former Jailor Shiv Kumar Awasthi said that today criminals are roaming around with placards hanging around their neck and all this is happening only because of the intention of the government. Today, even the witnesses are fearlessly going to testify, the land mafia are squirming like a rat trapped in a cage.
