Mum with no DIY experience turns three-bed rundown property into dream home

A woman with no previous experience of home improvement has completely transformed a three-bedroom property – inspiring others to start renovating. Lyndsey Gynane purchased the three-bed property for £170,000 with her partner back in April 2018.

As soon as they picked up the keys, the couple got to work despite having no DIY experience. Two years later, the value of the property had shot up by a whopping £110,000 and they garnered 162,000 followers on Instagram too, reports MirrorOnline.

Lyndsey started documenting her renovation journey on Instagram and soon racked up more than 100,000 followers to follow her process. The mum said their plans was to make the property “open” and renovate each bedroom to cater for a family.

“When we came to view it we knew the potential,” she explained back in 2020. “We’d not renovated before, it was our first time doing it but with the vision we had we knew we could make it into more than a three-bed semi,” she told the Liverpool Echo.

“People look at it on Instagram and think it’s half a million pound house, but it’s not, it’s just a three bed semi in Liverpool.” She continued: “It’s just gone crazy, it’s a little bit mental. People are following to see how we’ve done it, what we’ve done and also for inspiration. I have documented it all to help other people as well with their renovations.

“Many tell me ‘I didn’t realise how you can transform an old house’, so I just give little bits of advice and stuff. While we have hired people to do the major renovations, I’ve done most of it myself, all the decor is done by me.”
