The exercise to unite the opposition is going on before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Sometimes NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, sometimes Telangana CM and BRS chief KCR and sometimes Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK leader MK Stalin are seen making efforts for this. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is also seen moving forward on this path. He has created a political storm by planning to meet SP chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav as well as West Bengal CM and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee on the same day.
CM Nitish Kumar is going to meet Akhilesh Yadav in UP’s capital Lucknow and Mamta Banerjee in West Bengal’s capital Kolkata today. This is being directly seen as Nitish’s anti-BJP front. However, it is not that Nitish is seen trying for opposition unity for the first time. Before this, about 10 days ago, he had made a big announcement regarding this.
Nitish will tour the whole country in 2024
Nitish had then said that he would tour the entire country in the 2024 elections. During this, the emphasis will be on opposition unity. This has been discussed with everyone in Delhi. Congress and other parties also agree. Nitish had said, ‘The talk was stalled for seven months, but when the talks were called in Delhi, everything happened.’ Attacking the BJP, Nitish had said that those sitting in Delhi are not concerned with work but with propaganda. Trying to change history.
Stalin has also shown his strength
Bihar’s CM is not alone, who is trying to give an edge to the opposition. Recently, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had brought those parties on a single platform, which Congress was not able to bring together till now. Stalin had not only brought those political parties together on his stage, but also announced to wage a war against BJP from the stage.
Appeal to leave the ego and unite
He had told the leaders of opposition parties who had gathered in Chennai on March 1, Stalin’s birthday, that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are not about who wins, but who should not win. Stalin had said that this is not my birthday celebration. Rather, it is the beginning of opposition unity. Exactly a month after this, MK Stalin again gathered the opposition parties in the name of Social Justice Conference and appealed to them to leave their arrogance and unite against the BJP in 2024.
BJD and YSR Congress away from it!
However, some parties did not participate in this solidarity of Stalin. Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal and Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress were also invited to his social conference, but both the parties did not participate. Both the BJD and YSR Congress parties have so far kept themselves out of the opposition unity. Most opposition parties argue that the BJD and YSR Congress prefer to keep themselves close to the ruling NDA and avoid opposing the BJP at the national level.
