However, the government now says that provincial and federal elections across the country should be held on the same day in October and an agreement has been reached on this. The third and important round of talks between the coalition government and the PTI began on Tuesday night to discuss the proposals for holding elections on the same day in the country.
Big achievement told consent
Talking to the media after this conversation, the Leader of the House in the Senate and Federal Finance and Revenue Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar termed the agreement made on two points as a very positive achievement.
Dar said that there was an understanding between the two parties on holding simultaneous elections across the country under the caretaker governments and there was no confusion between anyone. He said that there were many things in the background, which played an important role, including the 18th Constitutional Amendment, the concept of caretaker governments and simultaneous elections for free, fair and transparent elections without any controversy.
No consensus on election dates yet
However, he said that the date of the election has not yet been agreed upon. He said, “We have fixed the date, but we have not reached any agreement yet.” He termed the agreement on holding one-day elections in the country as a ‘big progress’. The minister said that both sides have shown flexibility in this matter and if they continue to work towards this one resolution with sincerity, then the “third phase” of the talks (which will talk about agreeing on the election date) will also be held. will succeed.”
Both sides will accept the election result
At the same time, Yousuf Raza Gilani of PPP said that it has also been agreed that both the parties will accept the election results. The government side included Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Azam Nazir Tarar and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and they are joined by Yousuf Raza Gilani and Syed Naveed Qamar from the Pakistan Peoples Party and other parties. . Elections will be held under the supervision of caretaker setup

Demand to dissolve all assemblies by May 14
Qureshi said that the PTI has proposed that these assemblies be dissolved before simultaneous elections across the country or on May 14. As the two sides announced last week, they will discuss each other’s proposals to end the impasse over elections. Earlier, PTI chief Imran Khan said the government should dissolve all assemblies by May 14. So that the way can be paved for holding elections on the same date in the whole country. However, the government is not ready to dissolve the assembly.
