Parenting: 90s vs Today

I’m still pretty nostalgic about baggy jeans and hose water but the @T-Mobile SyncUP KIDS Watches are pretty slick too! #parenting #backtoschool #TMobilePartner

About Dude Dad:
Hi! I’m Taylor Calmus, a rural South Dakota born and Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 4 kids and over 500+ videos. We also have a TV show on the Magnolia Network called Super Dad. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.

  1. The railroad track play was hilarious. I grew up by the tracks and would always lay pennies for the train to smush. Parents definitely drove around like that, looking for their kids at the park, basketball court, etc.

  2. While mildly amusing, as a child of the 90s, only some of this is accurate. Overprotective, helicopter parenting really started in the 90s. I feel like the examples they show of 90s parenting is more applicable to 50s -80s era.

  3. Yeah I still don't like children getting adult privileges like cell phones, internet and R-rated movies.
What exactly does that make adulthood worth anymore?
and I ended the 90s at 19, so I'm not that old! I'm just smart.

  4. Our family didn’t have much money so us kids were inventive. We had a blast building a miniature golf in the back yard with stuff out of the garage. My brother became an engineer and I am still making things to this day.

  5. 00:50 is such a hoax. Netflix doesn’t have all the content. Prime charges to watch specific titles individually despite having paid for the general subscription.

That said, I love the video!

  6. Ah, the 90s, the good old days when we were just starting out! How has the approach to children's education changed since then? We have fond memories of the overhead projector on wheels…

  7. I was a kid of the eighties and I remember my brother helping me dig a ten foot long 5 feet deep tunnel so we could escape the government if they came for us. Then being really mad when my mom got home she made us fill it in. Still don’t know why my brother thought we needed the tunnel to escape the government. Probably got the idea from tv.

  8. My dad in the 90s was pretty much the same fashion as you.
    Typical Buttoned Shirt.
    Denim Jeans/Shorts.
    High Socks.
    Sneakers.
    Typical Hair.
    Mustache.
    Double Bridged Glasses.

If I were you, I would've gone for a Chevy Suburban than a Volvo. 😅😅😅

  9. Nope. I want my kids to have the exact same level of freedom I had as a child. Without Big Brother watching their every move.
    That's why I gave them a big brother 😂
