Police said the woman was unconscious when they arrived at a property in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, after 8am on Saturday. A murder investigation has been launched.

A 77-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of murder after a woman was killed following an alleged attack on Saturday morning.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) found the woman unconscious on a property in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, shortly after 8am on Saturday.

They had received reports that a woman in her seventies had been attacked.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Police have launched a murder investigation and arrested a 77-year-old man from the area on suspicion of murder.

The man remains in custody and police are “confident that this incident is contained.”

The lead investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Dejan Avramovic of Thames Valley Police Major Crimes Unit, said: “Tragically, following an incident yesterday morning, a woman was killed.

“There will be scene surveillance on site, and if you have any concerns you can address them with any of our on-scene officers.

“I appreciate that incidents like this cause concern in the local community, but I would reassure the public that we are confident that this incident is contained, that there is no increased risk to the local community, and that we are not looking for anyone else in connection.” with the incident.”
