Pink Friday invites shoppers to support local and small businesses

SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) – Pink Friday was in full swing on Friday (Nov. 22) on both sides of the Red River with vendors from across the ArkLaTex inviting shoppers to support local small businesses for sales. this year.

“As you know, we have Small Business Saturday, which is the day after Black Friday. But we as a small business community never had a Friday sales day that was key, so Pink Friday is that,” explained Chris Rhodes, owner of Crockett Street Trading Co.

“Pink Friday before Black Friday here at the Civic Center, and what we do is (bring together) small businesses and basically let customers shop under one roof,” said Deanna Phillips, co-promoter of DPHB Shows.

“It’s just about getting the word out and trying to bring everyone together for a common goal, and that’s making sure people come and shop with us first,” Rhodes said.

“We have people from Rodgers, Arkansas, from Dallas, Texas. We have people from Canton, Texas. We have people from Monroe, West Monroe; We also have people from Baton Rouge here today,” Phillips said.

A Bossier City business owner whose business is online said she sets up her table each year to offer shoppers the opportunity to see her products in person.

“I make wreaths. Mine are a bit exaggerated. And ship them throughout the United States. That’s why I like coming here and I have some local customers that come and buy from us,” Pam Smith said.
