A two-bedroom home which is on sale for £124,000 has been dubbed the “stuff of nightmares” due to its bizarre bathroom choice.

The property, which is situated in Birch Road, Ellesmere, Shropshire, has come under fire for its open-plan toilet, which sits at the top of the stairs. To make things even stranger, there are no doors or walls to protect the person’s privacy. But despite its questionable features, the mid-terrace town cottage has been described as “quirky and characterful.” Elsewhere inside the property, prospective buyers can find a kitchen, dining room and living room.

The home also features a master bedroom and study or second bedroom. However, one of its most stunning traits is the garden which spans around 100ft. Part of the listing reads: “Externally, the property provides excellent gardens that have been much improved by the current vendors to now comprise a number of distinct areas which are, briefly, a raised decking area, children’s play area, attractive gazebo, and bark chipped area with garden storage shed.”

But social media users said they can’t see past the toilet. One stated: “I never thought open-plan bedroom toilets would catch on but they have. The whole place is just weird.” Another said: “I genuinely have nightmares like this.” One other added: “If you really wanted to squeeze in a loo upstairs, based on the floorplan surely you’d switch the loo and basin around?”

Halls Estate agents are advertising the property for sale by private treaty. Over in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, a property was put on the market earlier this year and featured a peculiar design. The five-bed home, which was listed for a staggering £850,000 property, featured a “green shag carpet” on the floor but also on the walls.

The listing, by Quicklister estate agents, reads: “This property has been completely renovated by the current owners and now offers a high-quality, stylish and contemporary interior. The flexible living space is complemented with ample storage and new electric and water systems. The entrance hall opens into the sitting room and a handmade open-plan kitchen with integrated appliances and a walk-in pantry. The vaulted rear entertaining room includes dining/living space and a study area. From the kitchen, there is access to a large utility room and a downstairs cloakroom with a shower.
