The owner of Louise’s Crafty Boutique was disappointed when she had to relocate her business.

“There was a lot to do in a short time,” Louise Wilke said. “I met a lot of nice people who had vendors there… Unfortunately, we won’t be able to see them as much or buy anything from them because we don’t know where everyone has moved.”

Wilke’s business has moved to Funky Gifter on Regina’s east side, where he said he now gets a lot more business traffic.

“I feel great. I don’t have to be there all the time. I just have to go and replace my inventory,” said Wilke, who sells glass blocks and glass minifigures. “I’m happy with where I am and I hope all the other vendors (at Centennial Market) are doing well, too.”

The Centennial Market was located in the former Sears clearance building in Regina, near Broad Street. The building was closed for safety reasons and deemed non-compliant by Regina Fire and Protective Services.

Leasa Gibbons, executive director of the Regina Warehouse Business Improvement District, said most of the vendors have found homes within the warehouse district.

“It’s always a challenge when we lose a business or something that was important to the community and it dissolves in some way,” Gibbons said. “There’s a change in the pattern of how people interact in the warehouse district and this clearly has an impact on the surrounding businesses.”

Global News confirmed that the building has already been sold.
