The government is going to organize the Republic Day parade next year, in which only women will be seen participating in all the activities on the path of duty. This will be the first time that only women will be seen in the parade, march past, tableaux and demonstrations of this Republic Day. Ministry of Defense issued notification
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Defence, it has been said that, after extensive deliberations, it has been decided that the contingents (marching and band), tableau and parade during the parade on the path of duty on Republic Day 2024 There will be participation of women in all programs including demonstrations.”. The Ministry of Defense has also informed other ministries including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Culture and Urban Development on this matter.
Deployment of women in combat roles as well
In recent years, women contingent commanders and deputy commanders have been selected in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to promote women’s participation in all possible roles in the defense forces and paramilitary forces. Along with this, the deployment of women in combat roles has also been done for the first time.
Women’s Artillery Regiment has been opened
Due to this efforts of the government, women are able to become fighter pilots in the Indian Air Force and have also joined the army as soldiers. Recently, the army has also opened a regiment of artillery for women officers. PM Modi, while addressing the 99th edition of his monthly radio program “Mann Ki Baat”, said that Indian women and their empowerment are playing a big role in furthering India’s development. He said that ‘women power’ is leading in every field by going ahead. The Republic Day of 2024 will emerge as a meaningful initiative in this direction.
