Revamp Your Hair Game in 2023: Everything You Need to Know About the Best Hair Dryers, Brushes, and Diffusers!

The Evolution of Hair Dryers: A Review of the Most Innovative Models on the Market

Hair dryers have come a long way since their invention in the 1920s. For decades, they all looked practically identical, until the Dyson Supersonic dryer debuted in 2016, completely revolutionizing the design with bladeless fan technology. Since then, several other companies have followed suit, developing ultra-light, thin models that more closely resemble heat guns than conventional hair dryers. The following is a review of three of the top models on the market, outlining the pros and cons of each.

Chi Lava Pro for $337

The Chi Lava Pro dryer comes in a bit lighter than the other two, and has an LED display that indicates the exact temperature, a rare and welcome feature. There are four heat settings, ranging from cool to 250 degrees Fahrenheit, but the big issue with this model is that too much air is drawn through the diffuser, causing hair to move more than it should.

IQ2 Perfetto range for $430

The Gama IQ2 Perfetto dryer is sleek and includes a safety feature to automatically shut off in case of overheating. It also has a setting lock, so you can dry your hair without accidentally changing the speed or heat. Additionally, it comes with a silicone mat that automatically puts the dryer on standby when you put it down and turns it back on when you pick it up, a handy feature when cutting hair into sections for a blowout. The downside to this model is that it’s expensive and the magnetic filter cap falls off constantly.

Bio Ionic Smart-X High Efficiency Dryer for $329

The Bio Ionic Smart-X High Efficiency model also has a setting lock, a feature that should be standard on all design tools in the author’s opinion. Although the author prefers the look of this model, it does not come with a diffuser, which they believe should be standard at its price point.

Overall, all three models are lightweight and relatively quiet, with self-cleaning features that expel dust and debris. While each individual model has standout features, the author wishes they could combine all three for the perfect dryer.

Hair Dryers Go High-Tech: A Look at the Future of Hair Care

While the current hair dryer models on the market have clearly made significant improvements in terms of design and functionality, the future is undoubtedly even brighter for this ubiquitous beauty tool. Here are some of the trends and advancements that we can expect to see in hair dryers in the coming years:

Smart Technology

Smart technology has already made inroads in many of our home appliances, and hair dryers are no exception. In the near future, we can expect to see hair dryers with Wi-Fi connectivity that allow users to monitor heat and speed settings via a mobile app. This could also include the ability to preprogram customized temperature and airflow settings for individual users.

Sustainable Materials

As consumers become more environmentally conscious, companies are starting to incorporate sustainable materials into their hair dryers. For example, some models now feature casings made from recycled plastic or biodegradable materials. Similarly, there is a push towards developing hair dryers that use low-waste production methods and are entirely recyclable, which will no doubt become increasingly important in the years to come.

Advanced Drying Technology

While modern hair dryers are already hugely advanced compared to their predecessors, there’s always room for improvement. One area that shows particular promise is advanced drying technology. Some companies are now experimenting with infrared technology, which is believed to dry hair more efficiently while causing less heat damage, leaving hair looking shinier and healthier overall.

Final Thoughts

While there are already many excellent hair dryers on the market, the beauty industry is always evolving. With advances in smart technology, sustainable materials, and improved drying technology, future models will undoubtedly break new ground and provide users with even more options for achieving that perfect blowout or hairstyle. As the industry continues to innovate, it’s an exciting time to be a hair care enthusiast.

Summary:

Hair dryers have transformed significantly since their invention in the 1920s, with the Dyson Supersonic dryer proving revolutionary with bladeless fan technology. The industry has evolved, with companies developing super-light, thin models with designs that are similar to heat guns. This article reviews three of the best models on the market to date. These are lightweight, relatively quiet with self-cleaning features, but each model has distinctive features with its downside. Future models are expected to have Wi-Fi connectivity, sustainable materials, and advanced drying technology that causes less heat damage, leaving hair looking shinier and healthier overall. This would be an exciting period for hair care enthusiasts to experience the revolution as the industry continues to innovate.

Since the first hair dryer appeared introduced for home use in the 1920s, they all looked almost identical until Dyson introduced its Supersonic dryer in 2016, which matched the design of its bladeless fans. Now a number of companies are adapting their drying technology into the lightest, thinnest package possible, which looks more like a heat gun than a hair dryer (technically a type of heat gun, I guess).

I have used these three. Each weighs less than a pound, is relatively quiet, and has self-cleaning features: remove the filter cover on the back and activate clean mode; dryers shoot air in reverse to expel dust and debris. While each one stands out on its own, you wish you could combine all three for one perfect dryer.

Chi Lava Pro for $337: This one is a bit lighter than the other two. It has an LED display that indicates the exact temperature, which is a nice but rare feature, and there are four heat settings, from cool to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. The big flaw, though, is that too much air is drawn through the diffuser, causing hair to move more than it should with that accessory.

IQ2 Perfetto range for $430: The Gama tumble dryer is sleek and includes a safety feature to automatically shut off in case of overheating (thankfully it didn’t do this in tests). There’s a setting lock so you can dry your hair without accidentally changing the speed or heat. Plus, it comes with a silicone mat that automatically puts the dryer on standby when you put it down and turns it back on when you pick it up. This is really helpful if you are cutting your hair into sections for a blowout and often have to leave the dryer on. But it’s expensive and the magnetic filter cap falls off constantly.

Bio Ionic Smart-X High Efficiency Dryer for $329: This Bio Ionic also has a settings lock, which I now believe should be in all design tools. I prefer the look of this one, however it does not come with a diffuser, which I think should be standard at this price.
