Introduction:
The highly anticipated 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser has made its debut, signaling a new era for this iconic off-road vehicle. Packed with exciting updates and innovations, the new Land Cruiser promises to deliver a thrilling driving experience for enthusiasts. From a turbocharged hybrid powertrain to a smaller size and retro design, this vehicle is set to redefine off-roading capabilities. In this article, we will delve into the key features and changes that make the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser a standout choice for adventure seekers.
1. A Fresh Design and Lower Price:
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser showcases a throwback design, drawing inspiration from its illustrious predecessors. It pays homage to classic Land Cruiser models from the past, such as the Series 40 and Series 60, with round and rectangular LED headlights respectively. The vertically oriented rectangular taillights further enhance its vintage appeal. Additionally, the new Land Cruiser is narrower and shorter than its previous model, reflecting a move towards a more compact and agile design.
What’s more, Toyota has introduced a more affordable pricing strategy for the 2024 Land Cruiser. Starting at around $50,000, it offers a significant reduction compared to the previous model, which began at $85,000. This makes the iconic Land Cruiser more accessible to a wider range of enthusiasts.
2. Powertrain Revolution:
One of the most notable changes in the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is the shift towards hybrid power. Toyota has bid adieu to the V-8 engine and replaced it with a 2.4-liter turbo-4 engine coupled with a 48-hp electric motor. This combination, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, generates an impressive output of 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain not only ensures excellent performance but also contributes to improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
3. Unleashing Off-Road Prowess:
As an off-road icon, the Land Cruiser’s reputation for exceptional capability continues in the 2024 model. Built on the TNGA-F body-on-frame platform, shared with other Toyota models like the Tundra and Tacoma, the Land Cruiser delivers an unrivaled off-road experience. Double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, equipped with shock absorbers, provide enhanced stability and control.
With an approach angle of 31.0 degrees, a departure angle of 22.0 degrees, and a breakover angle of 25.0 degrees, the Land Cruiser is ready to conquer any terrain. Its 8.7-inch ground clearance, rock rails, high-strength steel skid plates, and Torsen limited-slip center differential ensure optimal performance on rugged landscapes.
4. Advanced Technology and Comfort:
Inside the 2024 Land Cruiser, Toyota has embraced modern technology and comfort features. The base model boasts heated cloth seats, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, and a 2400-watt AC inverter. The mid-spec model steps up the game with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10-speaker audio system, Rigid-branded color-selectable LED fog lights, and leatherette-trimmed seats. Leather seats are exclusively available in the top-spec First Edition.
Toyota ensures the safety of its occupants with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitors, and adaptive cruise control. Furthermore, a surround-view camera system offers added convenience during off-road maneuvers.
Conclusion:
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser marks the beginning of a thrilling new era for off-road enthusiasts. With its turbocharged hybrid powertrain, throwback design, and innovative features, the Land Cruiser sets a new standard for off-roading capabilities. Whether it’s the nostalgia of retro design elements or the advanced technology and comfort features, the Land Cruiser promises an exhilarating experience for both on and off the beaten path.
Summary:

An off-road icon returns for a new era.
On Tuesday, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser debuted with a turbocharged hybrid powertrain, a smaller size, a lower price and a throwback design. When it arrives in the US in spring 2024, it will start in the mid-$50,000 range, according to Toyota. The latest model started at around $85,000.
The latest Land Cruiser changes direction from where the 200 Series left three years ago, with a smaller size and a retro design to match its lower price. The lineup will consist of the 1958 Land Cruiser (for the year it was introduced in the US), Land Cruiser, and Land Cruiser First Edition models.
The new Land Cruiser is 4.4 inches narrower and 1.2 inches shorter than the previous model. Its design is influenced by ancestors from decades rather than years ago. Base 1958 Land Cruiser and top-spec Land Cruiser First Edition models sport round headlights, while the mid-level model gets rectangular LED headlights. The round headlights are reminiscent of the 1960s Series 40 models and 1980s Series 60 Land Cruisers, but the square LED units are a nod to the facelifted Series 60 known as the FJ62. Each model has vertically oriented rectangular taillights like the FJ60, and “Toyota” is emblazoned on the grille. An upright posture, tile sides, and tall glass should provide good visibility. Most Land Cruisers will ride on 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-season tires, but 20-inch ones will be available on the mid-level Land Cruiser model.

Full-time four-wheel drive and a 2-speed transfer case with electronic shifting will come as standard. Every Land Cruiser will also get a Torsen limited-slip center differential with manual locking capability and a locking rear differential, but mid- and higher-spec models will add disconnect front sway bars.
As the Current Land Cruiser 300 Serieswhich is not sold in the US and will not come here, as well as the Tundra, Redwood, tacoma, Lexus GXand Lexus LX, the new Land Cruiser rides on the TNGA-F body-on-frame platform. All models will use double-wishbone shocks at the front and twin-tube shocks with multi-link suspension at the rear.
The Land Cruiser’s signature off-road capability is enhanced by an approach angle of up to 31.0 degrees, a maximum departure angle of 22.0 degrees and a breakover angle of 25.0 degrees. Ground clearance is 8.7 inches, and if that’s not enough, rock rails and high-strength steel skid plates are available. A trailer hitch receiver will be standard, with a towing rating of up to 6,000 pounds.
Toyota’s Terrain Management System will come standard on mid- and high-spec Land Cruisers. It now features Mud, Dirt, and Sand modes that can be used in both 4Hi and 4Lo. Crawl Control, which is essentially off-road cruise control, will come standard, as will hill descent control.
