Rishi Sunak has decided not to launch an ethics investigation into the home minister for handling a speeding offence.

The British prime minister said he’s done it Suella Bravermannthe actions of “do not constitute a violation of the ministerial code”, following claims that he had asked civil servants to ask for special treatment to avoid penalty points on his driving licence.

Sunak said on Wednesday he had consulted Sir Laurie Magnus, his ethics adviser, who said “no further inquiries were needed”.

In a letter to Braverman, the prime minister said it would have been “better” to “avoid giving rise to the perception of impropriety” but added that she had apologised, expressed regret and given a full account of the facts.
