Scottish House of the Year continues as fans insist property was ‘stolen’ from victory

The search continued this week when the panel of judges examined three impressive properties in the

Anna Campbell Jones, Banjo Beale and Michael Angus traveled through allan bridge, Auchterarder and Dunblane to choose your favorite home. The trio start out at the Bridge of Allan and a unique new build called the Skinny House, home to Austin and his partner Hayley.

Formerly a vacant lot just 15 feet wide, the Skinny House was designed by Austin’s architect father. With two external patios, this longhouse is compact with great views of the surrounding area.

The Skinny House impressed the judges, earning a passable 26 points. The judging panel then visited The Old Manse in Auchterarder, Perthshire. Dating back to the 19th century, it is a beautiful sandstone period property that is home to Kelly, Michel and their three children.

Upon first seeing it, Kelly instantly fell in love with the home, but Michel was looking for something more modern that didn’t require renovation.

Undeterred by the challenge, Kelly lovingly restored the period property with an interior inspired by British textile designer William Morris. The five-bedroom house has three bathrooms, an impressive garden and a comfortable cinema room.

The Old Manse seriously impressed the panel of judges with its unique features and stunning décor, receiving a perfect score of 30.

The final contender in the Central category is Daisy Cottage in Dunblane. The cute and perfect traditional farmhouse dates back to 1784 and is home to Laura, David and their three cats Beebee, Belle and Patchy.

Daisy Cottage has been in Laura’s family for decades and she embraces ‘one level’ living as her father was disabled. The house is accessible to all and includes a library for studying, a back garden with a terrace, and a small art gallery.

In the end, Daisy Cottage scored 24 points after failing to impress Anna, Banjo and Michael and failing to make it to the end of SHOTY. As the highest scoring property, The Old Manse has secured its place in the next round as fans reacted to the news on social media.

Viewers took to Twitter and shared their thoughts on this week’s episode. One said: “Daisy Cottage was the BEST so far in this series. Manse was the worst this week (although still better than last week). I really don’t understand what the judges are looking at.”

A second added: “Daisy Cottage was broken into! #shotty”, while a third wrote: “What are they up to? It’s an Insta house, not a home. #shot.”
