Good, The Ultimatum: Queer Love it’s finally over on Netflix (warning: major spoilers forward). If you’ve been streaming, you already know that this season brought even more drama than might have been anticipated… which I didn’t think was possible, but leave it at that. the ultimatum to do it!

For a quick recap: Five couples entered the show with an ultimatum, and (sadly) only one is still together. The reunion episode brought to light a lot of grievances, particularly among some couples who, let’s face it, needed some time apart. However, there are still some questions looming over the fate of these couples.

Vanessa and Xander’s relationship problems were completely reversed throughout the ultimatum. Initially, Xander gave Vanessa the ultimatum. However, he quickly realized that he was falling for Yoly, just as Vanessa was ready to commit. They eventually broke up, making them the only couple to never get engaged.

“I love you like a friend, and I think this experience made me realize that we shouldn’t be together,” Vanessa told Xander during their reunion.

Xander decided that his relationship with Vanessa had come to an end, even before filming their breakup scene, according to TODAY. “If I had really been listening to my intuition, which I wasn’t doing a good job of before, I probably wouldn’t have even been on the show, honestly,” Xander said. TODAY.

Based on the reunion episode, it appears that both women are single. Xander and Yoly have been in communication, but are not in a relationship. As for Vanessa, she dates.

“I’m dating, trying to find someone who feels special, who feels like potential marriage material,” Vanessa said.

Aussie and Sam are still engaged, and they’re the only couple this season to survive! “We’ve figured it out,” Sam says of the couples’ problems before the show, which mostly stemmed from miscommunication. Sam has worked to give Aussie space, and Aussie has worked to take less time needing space. I love commitment!

Aussie is also working on communication, not only with Sam, but also with the family. “In the past, she might not have told him [my family about Sam] but I’m trying to embrace myself and be more open, and live my truth,” Aussie says during the finale.

The couple plans to get married in Australia, which is the home of the Aussie.

Things were very… cold between Mal and Yoly in the Ultimatum reunion (rightly!) After giving the ultimatum, Yoly was a little dishonest with Mal about his feelings for Xander throughout the season, and that was ultimately addressed in the retelling.

Mal ended up proposing, but Yoly kissed Xander shortly after agreeing. “I’m so sorry I kissed Xander after saying yes to Mal. I think it was just the heat of the moment and the reality of saying goodbye to Xander, someone I loved, and I didn’t honor my previous commitment to Mal. I’m sorry,” Yoly said in a Ultimatum press event.

Both Yoly and Mal were happy with the proposal because they got to see their relationship through to the end, according to TODAYbut in the end it didn’t last. The couple is no longer together and Yoly confirmed that she is not exclusively seeing Xander or anyone else.

“This has been the longest I’ve been single. It’s been a year and a half, almost two years. So I’m just dating myself, as silly as it sounds,” she said.

And, despite airing his grievances towards Yoly on TV, Mal also feels that Yoly will always be a part of his family. “I think we still respect each other,” Mal said. TODAY.

Lexi and Rae broke up the ultimatum In a happy place: The women were happily engaged and getting ready for wedding planning. “This last year has been amazing,” Rae said of her relationship during the finale. Unfortunately, this honeymoon phase did not last. A title card at the end of the episode revealed that the couple broke up shortly after their reunion appearance.

“We had an amazing four and a half years together, but when we’re looking for a life partner, maybe there are things we’re looking for that are different and things we couldn’t get over from the show,” Lexi said. at a press event for the ultimatum.

Rae also said TODAY that he has no regrets proposing to Lexi, even if their engagement fell through. “I’m happy that I went to where my heart was at that time. I think following your gut is very important,” he said. TODAY.

Lexi also added that the couple just couldn’t get over the issues that made them apply to the show in the first place. “We probably spent another month trying to figure out some things that maybe we hadn’t gotten over as much as we thought (during) the experience. ICYMI, Lexi had fairly good chemistry with Mal during their trial marriage. Ultimately though, both Lexi and Mal ended up going back to their original partners. During the finale, Lexi was also engaged to Rae, but later revealed a new relationship.

“I’m in a relationship now. After the meeting, Lexi debuted her new boo on his tik tokrevealing photographer Kristin “Zanc” Zancanelli. She later explained how the couple met via Instagram. “During one of the most difficult months of my life, I let my best friend do a photo shoot for me in my reunion dress. I’ve never felt comfortable in front of the camera, let alone happy in front of one. It’s so unbelievably amazing being able to see the smile this woman put on my face even as a friend in some of my darkest moments,” she wrote on Instagram. “Moving forward to this day, this woman has taken absolutely every inch of space my heart has to give “.

Lexi told Netflix that Zanc gives her the “happiness” she felt with Mal, while also giving her “intimacy.” [they’re] explorer.”

Tiff and Mildred

Tiff and Mildred revealed that they were no longer engaged at the Ultimatum meeting.

What about Yoly and Xander?

After accepting Mal’s marriage proposal, Yoly kissed Xander.

Based on the meeting, it doesn’t seem like Yoly and Xander are officially together, but they’re definitely still in touch. The couple met at Coachella after not seeing each other for a few months. However, they both say that they are just friends at the moment.

“The person that I was while I was dating Mal, while I was falling for Xander, was someone who was overcommitting and willing to give up parts, things that I need in the name of love,” Yoly said. “I’m not anymore I want to have my ‘ Hell yes’ [relationship].”

While she says she’s currently single, Yoly hasn’t totally ruled out the possibility of dating Xander in the future.

“I would say I don’t think Xander and I aligned as much as we did at the time. I think about that sometimes. We had such a great connection and the love was there, but no, not yet,” she said.

Xander later told Netflix how the relationship never came to fruition on their end. “After the meeting, it was like, poof, [Yoly] he was gone. I felt that his intentions were again not in the right place and not in my best interest.”
